In anticipation of Friday’s rivalry basketball game against Navarre, Gulf Breeze High School is hyping up the student body with ‘Snowcoming’ Week, which will culminate with the game and black-light dance for students on Friday.

The event is a Homecomingstyle dress-up week with a twist: it’s an all-out competition as upperclassmen and underclassmen attempt to have the most school spirit.

In competitive fashion, upperclassmen and underclassmen have been dressing up and teachers are counting which group has the most participants. The dress-up days were/are: Monday, Farm Animals (under) versus Farmers (upper); Tuesday, Cowboys versus Indians; Wednesday, Heroes versus Villains; Thursday, Aliens versus Zombies. On Friday, the competition will end as the entire school unites to “Pink-out Navarre” in honor of those who have battled or are battling breast cancer, specifically Tori Cartee – a teacher at GBHS.

In the same fashion, Navarre will wear orange in honor of a staff member who is battling Leukemia.

Additionally, a boys’ Snowcoming Court was voted in, and a Snowcoming King will be announced Friday.

After the big game, the Student Government Association is putting on a black-light dance for students in the cafeteria. Admission is $5 benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project in conjunction with the state SGA initiative to help veterans.
