Broxson aids Garcon Bridge cause
State Rep. Doug Broxson said Tuesday that he submitted a letter to the Santa Rosa County Commission outlining an agreement that will allow them to safely appoint two new members to the Santa Rosa Bay Bridge Authority (SRBBA).
This is the result of extensive negotiations with The Bank of New York Mellon, which represents the Santa Rosa Bay Bridge bond holders.
“I hope the Authority will be able to re-establish a quorum and arrive at a resolution to the challenging issues they currently face,” Broxson said in a news release.
The County Commission, through its Chairman, Lane Lynchard, has reviewed the letter from Broxson’s office. The news release said Lynchard believes the agreement as outlined will enable the Commission to appoint new members to the SRBBA who can then work toward improving the financial stability of Garcon Point Bridge.
“The agreement facilitated by Rep. Broxson removes the stumbling blocks we have had in appointing members to the authority,” Lynchard said in the news release. “Hopefully, this sets the stage for a functioning authority that can begin to work through the difficulties surrounding the bridge’s financial arrangements.”
