Caddell assumes PSC Foundation presidency

Caddell Caddell Gulf Breeze resident Pam Hunt Caddell last week became President of the Pensacola State College Foundation Board of Governors.

The non-profit PSC Foundation is the school’s fundraising arm. It maintains gifts and contributions to promote growth at the college on numerous levels including capital improvements, faculty and program development and scholarships.

Caddell succeeds previous PSC Board President Grover Robinson IV of Pensacola. Robinson passed the gavel to Caddell during the college’s 2010 Leadership Appreciation and Awards Dinner on July 15.

The event followed the college’s approval by the Florida State Board of Education to offer four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Applied Science in Administration baccalaureate degrees beginning in January.

The junior college officially changed its name to Pensacola State College on July 1.

Caddell’s ascension also came less than a week before the school broke ground on a new South Santa Rosa County satellite campus in the Gulf Breeze/Midway area.

Caddell, a 1980 graduate of Gulf Breeze High School and 1982 graduate of PSC, said the environmental disaster in the Gulf makes Pensacola State College’s mission even more important to the area.

“Many whose livelihoods have been devastated will look to our college as a source of hope for re-training,” Caddell said.

Caddell’s goals during her two-year term include:

¦ Raise funds for faculty and program development, as well as scholarships for students seeking four-year degrees;

¦ Raising $250,000 in matching funds to secure Title III funds, a valuable resource for increasing student success and retention through faculty development and classroom technology;

¦ Strengthening PSC’s Annual Fund to attract grants, enable fundraising, purchase technology and much;

¦ Working with the Foundation Guild to support Foundation activities.

Caddell’s term will last until the summer of 2012. Joining her on the Foundation Board of Governors are Margarett Stopp, Vice President; Gary Sammons, Secretary; and Tom Owens, Treasurer.

Caddell owns Gulf Atlantic Constructors, Inc.
