‘Hubble’ showing at IMAX Theatre

Journey through distant galaxies and accompany spacewalking astronauts as they attempt the most difficult and important tasks in National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) history.

“Hubble,” opening Friday, March 19 at the National Naval Aviation Museum’s IMAX® Theatre Giant Screen, offers viewers an inspiring, unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope's legacy and highlights its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves.

Museum visitors can catch “Hubble” at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. “The Magic of Flight” will show at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

In addition, advance tickets for “Hubble” are available for purchase now at the National Naval Aviation Museum’s IMAX Theatre.

PJC presents ‘Celia, The Queen’ for Women’s History Month

In celebration of March as Women’s History Month, the Pensacola Junior College Multicultural/Black History Committee and Cuban American Association Film & Discussion Series present “Celia, The Queen” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, at PJC’s Hagler Auditorium, Building 2, room 252, on the Pensacola campus.

Director Joe Cardona’s film is an extraordinary story about the life and legacy of Cubanborn Celia Cruz whose voice symbolized the soul of a nation and captured the hearts of fans worldwide. Erupting onto the Cuban music scene, Cruz broke down barriers of racism and sexism with the powerful weapon of her voice and the warm tolerance of her heart. The movie captures the diversity of the people whose lives she touched. Cruz is known as the “Queen of Salsa.”

EAAA hosts free public stargazing at Battery Worth, Fort Pickens

Weather permitting, volunteers from the Escambia Amateur Astronomers' Association will set up several telescopes for public viewing of the stars, planets and constellations from sunset until 10 p.m. at the Battery Worth picnic area at Fort Pickens.

Celebrate Florida Archaeology Month

Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) for the 3rd annual Archaeology Month Celebration Event. This year’s Celebration Event is on Saturday, March 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the FPAN Coordinating Center, 207 East Main Street, Pensacola, next to the Fish House in downtown Pensacola. The event is free and open to the public.

Family-friendly activities will include demonstrations, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, artifact identification, Destination Archaeology! Resource Center tours, local heritage organization displays and rough sorting artifacts.

The Florida Public Archaeology Network and the University of West Florida will present the event.

Homes open for North Hill Azalea Tour

From 10 a.m. to noon, homes in the North Hill district of Pensacola will be open for touring.

Metaphysical Festival materializes in Navarre

The 8th Annual Emerald Coast Metaphysical Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, at the Days Inn in Navarre.

The event will feature more than 50 vendors, psychics, readers, healers and speakers. A donation of $10 will be requested at the door. The public is invited.

Lyceum Series features PJC and UWF students

The Pensacola Junior College Lyceum Series presents the Pensacola Guitar Ensemble and Pensacola Guitar Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. in the Ashmore Fine Arts Center Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus. Admission is free.

The concert features compositions from a variety of composers including Roland Dyens, Claude Debussy, and Johann Sebastian Bach.
