Gumbo Cook-off returns

It’s February, and that means it’s time to start getting outside and enjoying all Gulf Breeze has to offer.

The Gulf Breeze Rotary Club’s annual Gumbo Cook-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Shoreline Park.

Area service and social clubs, businesses, churches, schools and other interested groups are invited to join in the fun. Cooking teams will consist of three chefs, and each team will be responsible for cooking 15 gallons of gumbo on-site.

Entry fee for cooking teams is $400, which entitles teams to forty $10 entrance tickets, which can be sold or given away to clients, employees or members. The public also is invited to attend and taste the gumbos; tickets also will be available at the entrance table.

All proceeds go towards college scholarships for local students and funding local community projects.

To learn more and to secure an application to participate, call Greg Smith at 292-7432.
