Gulf Breeze resident Fruitticher wins national karate title
      The Japan Karate Association/ American Federation (JKA/AF) recently announced that Gulf Breeze native Tom Fruitticher chief instructor of Coastal Shotokan Karate, won first place in kata and first place in fighting at the JKA/AF National Karate Tournament in New Orleans. More than 250 competitors from around the country attended the two day event.

Lady Dolphin basketball team starts season
      The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin basketball team opened the 2009 season last week with a 73-35 loss to Pace on Nov. 16. The Lady Dolphins (0-2) were within five points late in the first quarter, but Pace would outscore the Lady Dolphins 26- 8 to take a 36-13 halftime lead.

Dolphin soccer wins two, ties one
      The Gulf Breeze High School boy’s soccer team won matches last week against PHS and Choctaw last week by a combined score of 5-0 before tying Arnold 1-1. Max McDaniel had goals for the Dolphins in both of the victories. Danny Gibble, Doug Overlade, Eric Mayfield and Chance Winn also scored in the three matches.
