Volleyball hopes dashed
Bishop Kenny wins fifth straight regional crown; GBHS finishes 24-3
      The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin volleyball team had six chances to take game one in their Region 1-4A championship match with Jacksonville Bishop Kenny. But the Lady Crusaders staved off all six and went on to a 28-26, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21 win over Gulf Breeze Saturday.

Three-time state tennis champ Kasler to play at Auburn, Lively to play baseball at Central Florida

Cross country finishes season
      The GBHS girls cross country team took 12th and the boys team 14th at the District 1-3A meet Nov. 7 at Osceola Golf Course in Pensacola. Jen Pfeifler led the Lady Dolphins with a time of 21:43.42, good for 26th overall. Kathleen Costers was 40th (22:30.77), followed by Samantha Welsh (60th - 23:26.57) and Heather Haney (71st - 24:05.32).

Gunn grabs two top-five finishes at state meet
      Ross Gunn closed out a stellar career with a pair of top five finishes at the 3A state meet Thursday in Orlando. Gunn finished third in the 100 yard backstroke and fifth in the 100 yard freestyle at the Central Florida YMCA Aquatic Center. Gunn swam a 52.19 in the 100 back and a 47.11 in the 100 free.

The Club hosts tennis tourney to benefit area Special Olympics
      On Friday and Saturday, November 20-21, The Club in Gulf Breeze hosts a fundraising tournament for the Special Olympics of Escambia and Santa Rosa. A Pro-Am Tournament kicks off the event on Friday, from 6-9:30 p.m. Cost is $40 for players. Non-players are asked to make a $10 donation.

      Coach Bruce Savage has one of his oldest teams he’s had in his 11 years as Dolphin head soccer coach. He’s going to need that experience as the Dolphins are, according to Savage, in their toughest district and toughest region ever.

      The GBHS Soundwave Band will hold a Schwan’s Fine Frozen Foods Sale on Saturday November 21 from 10 a.m. till 5pm in the People’s First Bank lot on Shoreline Drive.
