GBHS volleyball team 22-2 on season after winning first title in five years
      Troy Lewis’ sign read ‘Leave No Doubt.’ The Lady Dolphin volleyball team did just that Thursday, with his daughter having a big hand in it. Sophomore Sarah Lewis had a career-high 14 kills and 16 digs, as Gulf Breeze won its first district volleyball championship in five years, beating Washington 25-23, 25-20, 25-8 Thursday at Pensacola High.

 Hicks wins individual title with 70, Ryals third; advance to sixth state in seven years
      The girls golf team, behind the duo of Sarah Hicks and Ashleigh Ryals, competed in the team’s sixth state tournament in the last seven years earlier this week (after the News’ deadline).

No. 6 PHS too much for Dolphins
      Coach Chris Nemith is hoping that his Dolphins will see the Choctaw Indians Friday night - and be inspired. “(They were) a lot like us the beginning of the season. They were 1-3 and they just decided they were not going to lose anymore,” Nemith said. The winless Dolphins will travel to Fort Walton to take on the 5-3 Indians at 7 p.m.

GBHS girls soccer season starts this week
      Ryan Davenport knows the perception exists. In fact, he welcomes it. A Gulf Breeze High graduate and a former Dolphin soccer player, Davenport is the new coach of the Lady Dolphin soccer team. He takes over a team that lost, arguably, its best group of seniors in school history. But he warns - don’t think the cupboard is bare.

      The GBHS junior varsity and ninth grade football teams concluded their season with losses at Pensacola High Thursday. PHS JV 38, Dolphins 0 Head coach Chris Nemith praised the efforts of Andrew Jurnovoy, Taylor Busbee and Matt Paule on offense and Taylor Balkom, Mikal Wilder and Ryan Freeman on defense in the junior varsity’s loss to PHS.
