Clarkin’s music video chosen for CMT contest
Pearl Clarkin, the rising singer/songwriter from Pensacola Beach, needs your vote.
Clarkin’s music video, recorded this summer on the beach and performed to her self-written song ‘Even Though I Want To,’ was chosen as one of 64 finalists in Country Music Television’s fourth annual Music City Madness contest.
Clarkin, 14, a student at Gulf Breeze Middle School, is now competing for online votes in a single-elimination tournament over the next several weeks. Music City Madness offers up-and-coming artists a chance to showcase their talent and let fans narrow the field in an online battle of the bands.
One lucky winner will take home the title and win a chance to audition for label executives at The Valory Music Co., as well as win a trip to CMT in Nashville to record Studio 330 sessions and a backstage experience with legendary Reba McEntire at one of her concerts.
Clarkin is one of 64 finalists and unsigned artists from 28 states who were chosen from among hundreds of video entries. In the first round, Clarkin is competing in the Jimmy Wayne Bracket against Daniel Barnes of West Bellevue, Neb., and his video/song ‘The Price That I Pay.’ Voting ends on Monday, Nov. 2. The winner will advance into the second round against either Chance McKinney of Bothell, Wash. (‘Be Real’) or Ray Kenyon of Dothan, Ala. (‘A Dime Will Get You Nowhere’).
To vote, click on madness.CMT.com, then click on the image of recording artist Jimmy Wayne. That takes you to the brackets, where you can watch each contestant’s video and register your vote. The public can vote an unlimited number of times.
The contest winner will be announced Dec. 16.
Clarkin collaborated with several local friends and production specialist Dave Mungai, owner of Choice Video Services in Gulf Breeze, to shoot the video on Pensacola Beach.
Clarkin currently is getting voice training in Nashville with hopes of competing for the American Idol title when she turns 16 in a couple of years.
