Girls golf wins FCA; boys third

For the second time in as many weeks, the Lady Dolphin golf team has won a tournament, the most recent being the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Tournament Sept. 22 at A.C. Read. The boys team the day before finished third.

The Lady Dolphins won the 12 team tournament with a team score of 333. Niceville was second (347), followed by Catholic (372) and Fort Walton (360).

Sarah Hicks was the low medalist with a 72, while Ashleigh Ryals finished tied for second with a 78. Alex Ryals shot a 91, followed by Ally Hurd (92) and Laurin Halstead (94).

Boys team takes third

The Boys Golf Team followed up last week's fourth place finish at the Miracle Strip with a third place finish at the FCA Classic. Nineteen area teams competed in this year's FCA tournament.

"It's another record finish this year for our team," said Head Coach Edward Pate. "It's a real testament to how hard the team has worked over the years."

The Dolphins posted a final 314, edging Catholic (316) and Milton (318) for third. Pace won the tournament with a 302. Ft. Walton finished second with 308.

Junior Evan Smith was the team's low scorer with a final 75. Smith birdied three holes on the back nine (Lakeview) and holed out on hole 9 of Bayou from 140 yards out for an eagle.

Team captain Jack Sargent birdied 1 and 8 on Lakeview to card an 81.

Assistant team captain Tyler Wright shot par on his first nine holes (Lakeview) and hit the pin on Bayou 4 for a birdie. Wright posted a 79.

Freshman Jr Schultz also shot 79. On his third hole Schultz hit a 6-iron and stuck the ball one foot from the pin.

Senior Danny Chevillet did not finish.

The girls team beat Navarre by 50 shots (166-216) in a dual meet at Hidden Creek.

Ashleigh Ryals parred seven straight holes and finished with an even par 36. Hicks parred seven holes and finished with a 38.

Alex Ryals shot a 44, while Hurd shot a 48 and Halstead a 49.
