Animals to be blessed at St. Francis

FAITH

Gentry Gentry St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze will have its St Francis Day celebration and the Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 9:30 a m.

St Francis' Interim Priest, The Rev. Massey Gentry, will be the Celebrant.

The Blessing of the Animals will be followed by the Holy Eucharist. There will be an opportunity for pets and owners to have their pictures made together. Refreshments will be served. Children's activities will be available.

All are welcome to visit St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church at 1 St. Francis Drive, Gulf Breeze.

Pensacola Beach Community Church

Pensacola Beach Community Church is having its Annual Fish Fry on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is open and free to the public and will be held in the new fellowship hall.

Homemade hushpuppies, cole slaw and other trimmings also will be served. A bigscreen TV will be set up for watching college football.

Navarre Presbyterian Church

Through the ages, women and men have heard God call to them, and they have responded. On Sept. 13, new officers of Presbyterian Women were installed at their church home, Navarre Presbyterian Church.

Installed by Pastor Joan Wooten into their positions of leadership are the 2009-10 Presbyterian Women officers: Jean Matters, Moderator; Gail Cox, Co-Moderator; Libby Cosper, Treasurer; Penny Huebsch, Secretary; Margie McGaughey, Program; Linda Wagoner, Historian.

Pensacola Jewish Federation

The Pensacola Jewish Federation will have its Annual Campaign Kick Off and Recognition Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Scenic Hills Country Club in Pensacola.

Menu choices will be Vidalia encrusted chicken or hazelnut dredged Tilapia. There will be a cash bar. Cost is $25 a person. College students with valid ID and military members in uniform will be charged half price.

The dinner marks the start of the Federation's 2009-10 fund-raising activities. It will also honor eight members of the community who have contributed significantly to the growth and operation of the organization throughout the years. Award recipients include;

Posthumously: David Levin. Enduring supporters: Joe Rosenbaum, Gene Rosenbaum, Fredric G. Levin, Bobby Kahn, Lewis Bear and Harry Kahn. Sustained supporter: Margaret Wein
