SoundWave Band 'going mobile'
Band will play songs featuring planes, trains and automobiles during halftime shows
      The Gulf Breeze SoundWave band is trying something a little different for the 2009 season. Traditionally, the band, under the direction of Neal McLeod, performs several songs from the same artist at halftime of all Dolphin football games like Chicago or Earth, Wind and Fire. This year, it's a theme - Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Dolphins play at Crestview in Classic tonight
      The present Dolphin football program held an intrasquad scrimmage Friday at Dolphin Stadium after future Dolphins from GBSA and Tiger Point faced off against each other. Coach Chris Nemith hopes to make it an annual event, where the entire Gulf Breeze football community can come together and celebrate being Dolphins.

Lady Dolphin volleyball team opens 2009 season this week
      A young and very athletic Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin volleyball squad opened the 2009 season at home Tuesday against Navarre. "This is the most athletic, from one to 13, that I've ever had," said sixth year coach Waynn Sellers. "Every one of these kids can start for any other varsity team in this area. All we need is some games under our belt.

Atzhorn excels at national meet
      University of South Carolina senior Andy Atzhorn (Gulf Breeze High Class of 2006) competed in three events at the U.S. Swimming Open recently in Washington, D.C. Atzhorn's best finish was in the 400 meter individual medley with a time of 4:26.9.

The Club wraps up Heads 'N' Tails tourney
      The Club last weekend hosted the 10th Annual Heads 'N' Tails Mixed Doubles Championships in Gulf Breeze. The tournament featured 128 players in a compass draw format.

GBSA hosts jamboree, season starts Saturday
      The Gulf Breeze Sports Association's footballl program hosted a three-team jamboree Saturday at Shoreline Park. Ensley and Northwest Escambia also participated in the near ninehour long jamboree, one of several that were held that day.

Tigers play in Brewton, at home for season opener
      The Tiger Point Tigers were in Brewton Saturday for a jamboree with Northeast Pensacola, Pace and the hosts at T.R. Miller High School. The juniors won both of their 25-minute, running clock games Saturday, beating NEP 12-7 and Pace 14-7. Brandton Helms and Mitchell Robbins both scored against NEP, while Helms scored both against Pace.
