      Lt. Rick Hawthorne of the Gulf Breeze Police Department reported the following incidents the week of Aug. 17-24: ¦ On Friday, Aug. 21, officers responded to a report that of criminal mischief at the Williamsburg community park. Large ruts were left by vehicle tires.

Midway Fire District to abstain from Alpha calls
      The Midway Fire District (MFD) soon will refrain from responding to non-emergency, 'Alpha' dispatches to area nursing homes and doctors' offices. The MFD Commission voted unanimously Aug. 11 to stop such responses at the recommendation of Dr. Kim Landry of Gulf Breeze, Santa Rosa County's Medical Director who also serves in a similar capacity for Midway Fire.

      Gulf Breeze Fire & Rescue For the week of Aug. 15 through Aug. 21, Gulf Breeze Fire and Rescue was called for 11 emergencies. These incidents included 7 medical calls, 1 hazardous materials situation, 1 public assistance to remove a rattlesnake from the Bark Park at Shoreline Park South, and 2 dispatched and canceled en route.

Lynchard to address Republican Club
BRIEFS
      The Republican Club of Santa Rosa County will hold its next monthly meeting and Dutch Treat Dinner at The Club at Hidden Creek, 3070 PGA Boulevard in Navarre at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1. Guest speaker will be Santa Rosa County Commissioner Lane Lynchard, who will present his insight to the plans the Commission has under consideration for the coming year.
