Swenson Park picnic set
      The Santa Rosa Shores Homeowners Association, Santa Rosa Shores Women's Club and The United Methodist Church (Life Center and Gulf Breeze) will sponsor an end of the summer picnic in Swenson Park. This event is scheduled on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be food, music, games, prizes and lots of fun.

Elizabeth Bohannon to marry Nicholas Feilner
      Tammy and Lewis Bohannon of Pensacola Beach announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth, to Nicholas Ryan Feilner. The couple will be married Nov. 28, 2009 at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. Elizabeth Bohannon is a senior at Florida State University. She is scheduled to graduate in December with a bachelor's degree in Communications/ Business.

Oyster reefs dropped into place
Deadman's Island restoration project Phase One
      Phase One of the Deadman's Island Restoration Project officially commenced on Tuesday, Aug. 18 when the first oyster basket reefs were placed in Pensacola Bay near the northern bank of the island. The baskets will serve as a breakwater designed to protect the diminishing island from the erosive forces of currents moving through the bay.
