Children's Chorus plans auditions
      The Pensacola Children's Chorus under the direction of Susan and Allen Pote announces that auditions will be held in August for participation in the organization's 2009-2010 season. Auditions will take place for Festival, Concert, Echo and Young Singers choirs.

St. Ann Catholic Church plans blood drive for leukemia patient Ballinger
      Gulf Breeze resident Andrew Ballinger, son of Glenys and Malcolm Ballinger, has been diagnosed with a form of leukemia. Andy, 29, is the father of a 3- yearold daughter, Grace. Ballinger's treatment involves chemotherapy. Blood is an essential part of his treatment, and in just a matter of weeks he has used about two dozen units.

Exotic Bird Club meets Monday in Tiger Plaza
      The Emerald Coast Exotic Bird Club will meet Monday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the Bird House of Montague, 3487 Gulf Breeze Parkway, at Tiger Plaza in the Tiger Point area of Gulf Breeze. Discussion will include bird hazards and precautions for all parrot owners. Special guest star will be Harley, a Hyacinth Macaw, the most majestic of all parrots.

Caregiver Support Group meets Tuesday
      Council on Aging of West Florida (CAWF) will host a Gulf Breeze Caregiver Support Group Meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Blake, 4410 Gulf Breeze Parkway. There is no cost, and the public is invited. Reservations are not required. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the same time and location.

Shanks collects school supplies

      Scott Shanks of Edward Jones Financial Services in Gulf Breeze has set up a large donation box in his office for the public to drop off donated school supplies that he will personally deliver to Gulf Breeze Elementary and Middle schools at the end of August.
