AppRiver, Studer earn honors; Gas prices spike in state, locally
Two Gulf Breeze companies have been recognized by 'Florida Trend' magazine as being among the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Florida.
AppRiver, an e-mail messaging and Web security company located at 1101 Gulf Breeze Parkway, ranked No. 4 among medium-sized businesses. AppRiver - short for Application River - trailed only Seaside National Bank & Trust of Orlando, Shared Technologies Inc. of Clearwater and North Highland of Tallahassee in its category.
Studer Group, a health care consulting firm located at 913 Gulf Breeze Parkway, ranked No. 12 in the medium-sized business category.
'Florida Trend' magazine dubs itself as Florida's source for business news. It is based in St. Petersburg, and 2009 is the first year the magazine has ranked the state's top businesses.
AppRiver, founded in 2002, last week revealed its desire to expand into a planned $12 million, 80,000-square-foot building on property near Quietwater Business Complex, where the company currently does business. Expected to share space in the new building is Avalex Technologies of Pensacola, a leading national supplier of flatpanel displays and digital mapping systems that plans to relocate to Gulf Breeze.
Studer Group has worked with hundreds of health care systems, hospitals and medical groups since the firm's inception in 1999 and additionally operates in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Through the years, it has been recognized as one of the top companies to work for in the United States.

Crude oil closed last Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange at $69.45 per barrel, a one-week increase of $1.40.
'Bloomberg Business News' reported that the U.S. economy is doing better than expected, but the recovery is slow-paced and has investors cautious about the rebound. Signs of weak demand and increased crude inventories have dampened enthusiasm. And, with summer driving season coming to an end and an oversupply of crude, oil prices are expected to decline.
During the past week, the national average price of gasoline increased by 4 cents per gallon; the average price in Florida increased by 3 cents.
"Since summer travel season is coming to an end, it's expected to see fuel prices decline," said Jessica Brady, AAA spokesperson. "So, it wouldn't be surprising to see retail prices slowly decrease over the next couple of weeks."
