Firing range scares some residents, not all
      Neighbors living within a few feet of the shooting range on Soundside Drive in Gulf Breeze say they do not hear the shooting inside their homes, and it does not make as much noise as motorcycles or cars without mufflers. Local boutique hosts celebration of success
      Justin Miller's new business, The Outlet, hosted a Ladies Night with complimentary champagne and hors d'oeuvres last week to celebrate the success the designer fashion outlet is experiencing since opening this summer. Madrina Newcomb was among the shoppers gathered to browse through room after room of shoes, clothing, handbags, sunglasses and home accessories.

Class of '79 honors former GBMS principal with new library sign
      Ten years after its creation and dedication, the library at Gulf Breeze Middle School will finally bear the name of the principal for whom it is named. In 1999, the original office at GBMS was converted into a media center and named in honor of Walter F. Karr, the founding principal of the school.

County bus drivers to vote on union contract
      Santa Rosa County School bus drivers who work for the contractor Durham School Services will be asked to vote soon whether they want a union representing them. The drivers and mechanics are represented by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1395.

     Gulf Breeze Troop 417 recently traveled to Camp Rainey Mountain, Ga. Activities included white water rafting, rowing, canoeing, sailing, wood carving, metal work, nuclear science, archery, electrical engineering,environmental science, rifle, fire starting and stopping, eating, sleeping and playing!

FWC officer in good spirits, stable condition after shooting
      A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) law enforcement officer, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds while patrolling in Brevard County Wednesday, is in stable condition and good spirits, according to FWC spokeswoman Carol Pratt.
