Local exotic bird owners, enthusiasts launch new club

      The Emerald Coast Exotic Bird Club will begin monthly meetings starting Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Bird House of Montague, 3487 Gulf Breeze Parkway, at Tiger Plaza in Tiger Point.

Goodin speaks optimistically about future

Controversial Whisper Bay/98 intersection in works

      Santa Rosa County's Whisper Bay/U.S. Highway 98 intersection project is not officially under way, but work related to the project has begun at the old Delchamps shopping center. "What you see is the work being done by Moulton (Properties)," Michael Schmidt, Assistant County Engineer, said of the heavy machinery seen in the area.

Fatal accidents still under investigation
      Joseph Stewart, 27, of Navarre could be spending the next year in jail before he discovers where and how he will spend the rest of his life. Stewart was responsible for a fatal crash on East Bay Boulevard in Navarre on April 1 after sideswiping a car on U.S. Highway 98 in Midway. Stewart was driving without a license, and his blood-alcohol level registered .

Blue Angels took to sky in 1946 at Jacksonville
      At the end of World War II, Chester W. Nimitz, then the Chief of Naval Operations, ordered the formation of a flight demonstration team to keep the public interested in naval aviation. The Blue Angels performed their first flight demonstration less than a year later in June 1946 at their home base, Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, Florida.
