More ... Michala Nowak, a ninetime state meet performer, signed a swimming scholarship with Florida Atlantic University last week. Nowak had drawn a lot of interest from the Boca Raton school, but she wanted to try and walk on at Florida State, where former GBHS teammates Stevi Steinhauer and Jessie Carr swim. But after visiting FSU, Nowak had a change of heart. More ... Gulf Breeze High rising juniors Alison Milam and Adrian Culpepper, who led the Lady Dolphin softball team to the regional semifinals for the second time ever, were recently named Third Team All State by Miracle Sports. Milam led the Lady Dolphins with a .360 batting average. She also had 27 base hits 18 RBIs and 10 stolen bases, all of which were also team-highs. More ... Macey Hicks and Samatha Carisse from Gulf Breeze were selected to represent the State of Florida at the Region 8 Gymnastic Championships. More ... Rising Gulf Breeze High School senior golfer Ashleigh Ryals is coming off an impressive month of golf, which saw her win three tournaments and finish in the Top 10 in two others. "This is the best I've ever played," Ryals said of her performances in June. More ... The GBHS basketball team split a pair of summer league games at Catholic on June 23. The Dolphins (2-4) lost to Catholic before beating Escambia. Games are two 15-minute, running clock halves, with free throws counting as two points and a bucket after being fouled counting as three points. More ... The West Florida Jaguars got a small measure of revenge last week when they defeated Gulf Breeze 8-6 in a nine-inning, summer league game in Pensacola. The game was the first between the two teams since the Dolphins' 2-1 win at West Florida two months ago in the regional semifinals. More ...
