A hobbled Dolphin football team struggled on offense and had trouble on defense as the Milton Panthers beat GBHS 21-0 in a spring jamboree Thursday in Milton. "If you played as hard as you could and did the work that it needs for us to get better, we're going to be all right," coach Chris Nemith told his troops after the game. Sharon Kerby, who led the Lady Dolphin soccer team to the state tournament in each of her two seasons, was forced to step down last week after it was learned her OBES position wasn't going to be retained. More ... Gulf Breeze got its first taste of lacrosse last weekend at Shoreline Park. While Saturday's action didn't go well, the Dolphins bounced back with two wins on Sunday. Titans 5, Dolphins 2: Jack Costello and Kyle Fogel scored third quarter goals before the Titans tacked on a pair of insurance goals. More ... Both the Gulf Breeze 8-under All Stars and Southern Legacy took second place in their respective divisions at the Dolphin Splash last weekend at Shoreline Park. The days are longer, people are generally more active and children and educators are no longer in school. Those three factors equate to more opportunities to enjoy one or both of these fun sports. The basketball banquet was already in its fourth hour, and for all I cared, could've gone four more. As we all know, one of our basketball coaches, when it comes to banquets, has the gift of gab, while the other isn't as much. More ... The 2004 GBSA U-8 All Stars won the Northwest Florida Girls Softball Alliance All Star Tournament, beating pace 14-5 in the championship game at Myrtle Grove. Gulf Breeze was led by Caitlin Sacco, who had 10 hits in the four games. Alycia Gilbert and Caitlin Chapman had a pair of multi hit games. More ... |
