Dolphin football in jamboree tonight
Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Head coach Chris Nemith talks with his players after a team scrimmage Friday. It was the first for quarterback Michael Mann (right) and the last before the team's jamboree at Milton tonight. The weather held up long enough Friday for the Gulf Breeze Dolphin football team to get its final scrimmage in before tonight's jamboree in Milton.
The scrimmage was also the first for presumptive starting quarterback Michael Mann, who had spent most of spring football with the Dolphin baseball team.
The rising junior threw a touchdown on his first series, but threw an interception on the second. He would lead the Dolphins on a scoring drive on the final series of the scrimmage.
The junior varsity offense scored on the first series in the scrimmage with Andrew Jurnovoy scoring from 20 yards out. Taylor Busbee caught four passes for 39 yards, including a 24-yard reception.
Mann ran for seven yards on the varsity's first play, but threw a pass for a seven-yard loss on the next play. Eric Adams broke free for a 24-yard gain before Mann threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Alejandro Gonzales.
With Jurnovoy at quarterback, the JV moved the ball downfield, with the help of a 44-yard run by Mitchell deKozan. The JV defense would make a fourth down stop four plays later.
Five plays into the next series, Adams would pick off a Mann pass. The JV defense held on the next two series before Adams scored on a 24-yard run to end the scrimmage.
