Governor Crist honors Pandora de Balthazar for her efforts to help foster families
      Hosting a birthday party for local foster children in 2007 changed Pensacola Beach resident Pandora de Balthazar's life. The party inspired her to learn as much as she could about the needs and helping children in foster care. Last week, she was recognized by Gov. Charlie Crist as a Point of Light in honor of Foster Parenting Awareness Month.

Freedom Fest honors efforts of military
      Jubilee International Ministries of Pensacola sponsored Freedom Fest 2009 on Pensacola Beach on Saturday, May 24, honoring the efforts of the U.S. Servicemen and women with dance, theatre, art, music and ministry. "We prayed for numerous beachgoers and handed out ice cold bottled water all day," said Frank Sauer, Outreach Director.

Fish fear local military anglers
      The second annual Military Fishing Trip had to be postponed till Tuesday due to inclement weather on Saturday, and the anglers got the picture perfect day they wanted. Col. Jim Knell, himself retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, organized the trip as an award for outstanding recruits in all branches of service.
