      Weekly Activity Report For the week of Feb. 28 through March 6, Gulf Breeze Volunteer Fire Department was called for 13 emergencies. These calls included an outdoor fire at 112 Norwich Drive, 2 agency assist calls and 9 emergency medical service incidents not involving motor-vehicle accidents.

      Weekly Activity Report For the week of March 6 through March 12, Midway Fire District was called for 43 incidents. These calls included 1 brush or grass fire, 27 medical, 3 motor vehicle accidents without injuries, 1 unauthorized burning, 3 assist police, 2 public assistance, 1 dispatched and cancelled en route, 2 fire alarm and 3 false alarms.

Gulf Breeze Police Department Incident Report
      Gulf Breeze Police Department officers responded to the following incidents in the last week: On Monday, March 9, officers arrested Office Depot employee Austin Hatfield, 21 of Milton, and charged him with grand theft. On Tuesday, March 10, a wallet was found near the Gulf Breeze Library. To claim the wallet, call 934- 5121 to identify it.

Ex-fire chief sues Destin massage parlor
      Gulf Breeze resident Stephen Demeter on Monday filed a lawsuit against a Destin massage parlor that was at the center of a 2008 incident that contributed to his termination as chief of the Midway Fire District. As first reported March 12 on gulfbreezenews.

GB Police, K-9 handler mourn canine's passing
      On Dec. 29, 2008, the Gulf Breeze Police Department's K-9 "Luke" had to be put to sleep because of health issues. His handler, Sgt. Chris Lanzetta, had the honor and privilege of having his partner from November 1997 to May 2005.

Visitors build picnic area at Zoo
      Twenty-five young adults from around the world donated their time and energy on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 to construct a new picnic area for school groups at The Zoo Northwest Florida. 'Up with People' participants from 22 countries are traveling across three continents and treating hosts with community service and performing arts over a sixmonth period.

Florida DOT plans event to discuss stimulus $$
