PollCore area development topic of workshop What will the future hold for the core area of Pensacola Beach? It is up to you, the public to decide. That is why the Santa Rosa Island Authority is presenting a Core Area Development Public Workshop Wednesday, March 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pensacola Beach Church. All are welcome to attend and bring their ideas. One of the major topics of discussion will address the proposed increase of the toll from $1 to $2 to cross the Bob Sikes Bridge. If the toll increase is improved, how would the money be best used? Should it help fund a road realignment that would accommodate more parking in the Quietwater Boardwalk area, or fund an attention-getting pedestrian bridge over Via de Luna? Should it help construct a boardwalk along the sound side of the core area? Should it be used to install a traffic circle that would add personality and flair to the island? Or should it be used to add parking garages to the island for those weekends when parking is at a premium? These are just a few of the proposals that may be discussed at the workshop, but the public is invited to bring new ideas as well. |
