Blue Ribbon Posters
The Pensacola Beach Elementary students who won the Pensacola Beach Optimist's Poster Contest show their winning entries and blue ribbons. The theme of the contest was "BE #1 : JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS" poster competition. Nearly all of the students in all grades K-5 participated, with the winners : Kindergarten - Kai Hoffert; 1st grade - Joseph Urquhart; 2nd grade - Veronica Gyoerkoes; 3rd grade- Abby Jacobs; 4th grade - Kylie Finkbone; 5th grade - Jace Amberson. The winners will receive $50 savings bonds from the Pensacola Beach Optimist Club and their posters will move up into Optimist Zone and District levels for the chance at winning more. Students' posters were judged by PBOC members Bill & Barbara Balch with Sally Taylor at the school and the contest was chaired by PBOC member and second grade PBES teacher, Debbie Campanella. The criteria for the judging was getting the message across, creativity and artistic ability.
