Health & Pain Management of Florida: There is relief for chronic pain

Dr. Epstein Dr. Epstein Launched in 2007 Health and Pain Management of Florida was developed to fill a unique niche of medical care absent from the Gulf Breeze, Navarre, and Pensacola areas. The mission of the medical center is to aid patients in need of non invasive control of chronic pain conditions. These conditions include such illness as; fibromyalgia, failed back syndrome, chronic back pain, osteoarthritis conditions, chronic neck pain, headaches unresponsive to over the counter medications, post surgical conditions where the utilization of metal plates and screws set up areas of chronic pain, along with many other conditions.

The two driving forces behind the medical center are Dr. Sanford M. Epstein and Mr. Travis Talley. Dr. Sanford M. Epstein, Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and member of the American Academy of Pain Management, has 35 plus years experience in the delivery of healthcare. He is the former Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Des Moines University - College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He also did post graduate study in the field of anesthesiology at Portland (Maine) Osteopathic Hospital and Youngstown (Ohio) Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Epstein is also the author of a number of medical articles which have been published in nationally recognized medical journals. Mr. Talley brings with him a background in healthcare management that spans 4 years. He has both managed healthcare facilities in Las Vegas, NV and Pensacola, FL. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Appalachian State University with concentrations in Insurance and Banking.

They combined their talents to open a center for the relief of pain where patients can receive care, time, and understanding. Patients at Health and Pain Management of Florida are treated in a professional and timely manner by appointment only. However, the appointments are limited on a daily basis so that Dr. Epstein and the medical staff, Mrs. April Barber and Ms. Heather Hayes can spend the time needed with each patient for examination and discussion of the causes of pain. This level of care and time spent with each patient produces a unique and effective individualized treatment program. Typically a new patient appointment will take an hour to an hour and a half so a full history and physical examination maybe preformed and results discussed.

Both Dr. Epstein and Mr. Talley were recently participants at the Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, 3rd annual conference on pain management titled, Examining Critical Issues in Opioid Management.

Additionally, Dr. Epstein is only one of a handful of area physicians certified in the use of Suboxone for the treatment of opioid dependence. This certification is granted through the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Department of Justice after a physician has taken additional course hours in the use of Suboxone and the care of those patients dependent upon opiods. After the course work is completed a written examination is taken and that must be passed before any certification is granted. Dr. Epstein scored in the upper ten percent of those physicians taking that particular examination. Health and Pain Manage- ment of Florida has a number of active patients on the Suboxone therapy for opioid dependence and the success rate of the treatment has been at 100%.
