Jazz Society to jam in Gulf Breeze
The event, held on the first Monday of each month at various locations around the Bay Area, features talented local and visiting jazz musicians playing standards and improvisation. There is a $5 admission charge. Performing musicians are welcome without charge. "Recently we have had a number of younger players join our established group of musicians," said Jazz Society Board President Roger Villines. "This is a welcome opportunity for younger players to gain experience and exposure to the jazz community. "A Jazz Jam is exciting for both the performers and the audience. There are often musical surprises - the good kind - for the listeners, and sometimes, also for the players. It is a more free-wheeling experience." Jambalaya's restaurant is located inside the Quality Inn and Suites at 51 Gulf Breeze Parkway near the foot of the Three-Mile Bridge. Byron Clark, restaurant owner from New Orleans brought a contingent of five with him to open Jambalaya's in November. There will be fullmenu dining service and a wellstocked bar serving beer, wine and mixed drinks.
