WEDDINGS
Submitted photo Jack and Melissa Grace just celebrated their first Christmas as husband and wife after being married on Nov. 15 in Gulf Breeze. Jack and Joy Grace of Gulf Breeze announce the marriage of their son, Jack Alexander Grace, to Melissa Anne Chastney of Dunwoody, Ga.
Melissa is the daughter of Craig Chastney and the late Rosanne Chastney of Dunwoody.
The wedding was Nov. 15, 2008 at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church followed by a reception at Hemingway's Island Grill on Pensacola Beach. Rev. Daniel Godwin, Alex's former youth minister, performed the ceremony.
The bride and groom selected their married monogram as the theme for their wedding. The monogram adorned the invitation, program, wedding cake and was even embroidered onto the table linens at the reception.
Alex selected his groom's cake to be a replica of his classic 1976 Mako center consol boat. The bride and groom's departure was illuminated by family and friends holding sparklers on the beach, creating a pathway to the pier. Alex and Melissa waved goodbye as they boarded the Endless Summer, a 36-foot express fisherman captained by Alex's cousin, Ryan Peat. The boat was beautifully decorated with white lights while a "Just Married" banner hung from the tower. The Endless Summer headed off into the full-moon-lit Santa Rosa Sound and delivered the newlyweds to their destination.
The maid of honor was Erin Chastney, sister of the bride, residing in Chicago. The bridesmaids included Melissa's childhood friends from Dunwoody: Ashley Laury, Jennifer Bryant and Aimee Biggs. Alex's two sisters from Gulf Breeze, Elizabeth Mann and Emma Grace, were also bridesmaids. The precious flower girl was two-year-old Lilly Mann, daughter of Elizabeth and Rob Mann.
The best man was Jack Grace, father of the groom, from Gulf Breeze. The groomsman included Alex's childhood friends from Gulf Breeze: Joe Passeretti, Wes Moore, Jerry Snider, Joey Grassi and Scott Brotherton. Alex's college roommate and fraternity brother from Dunwoody, Russell Cochran, was also a groomsman. The handsome ring bearer was five-year-old Wesley Mann, son of Elizabeth and Rob Mann.
Melissa and Alex have chosen to make their home in Rockledge, Fla. Melissa graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003 with a Polymer and Fiber Engineering degree, and is currently employed at Propex, Inc. as the Southeastern Regional Sales Manager for Geosynthetics. Alex graduated from Mercer University in 2002 with an Industrial Engineering degree, and is currently employed at Sea Ray Boats as the Product Development and Engineering Operations Manager.
