      John Broxson said his support of the financially strapped Zoo Northwest Florida might have cost him his political career. The incumbent Broxson, 76, lost to political newcomer Lane Lynchard, 36, by just 216 votes in the race for District 5 Santa Rosa County Commission seat in the Aug. 26 primary.

Nichols: Sessions put up strong run; focus turns to November

      If it had been up the South End voters, Jeff Sessions of Gulf Breeze would be Santa Rosa County's new tax collector. But Stan Colie Nichols of Pace carried the North End and won the Aug. 26 primary against Sessions as well as the incumbent Robert McClure and two other challengers.
