2008 GBSA football, soccer registration underway

Registration is now underway for kids wanting to play football or soccer for the Gulf Breeze Sports Association in 2008.

Football is open for kids ages 5-14, while soccer is open for kids ages 4-14.

A $10 late fee will be assessed after May 31. Registration forms will be available at the Gulf Breeze Rec Center.

Take Stock in Children Tennis Tournament May 16-18

A tennis tournament that will benefit Take Stock in Children will take place May 16-18 at Shoreline Park.

Take Stock In Children is a local organization that provides scholarships, mentors, and hope to capable, low income youth in Santa Rosa County.

Food, catered by Verde, and gifts will be provided for every entry. There will also be a silent auction on Saturday, with entertainment provided by Lucas Crutchfield.

Optimist Fishing Rodeo May 17-18

The 33rd annual Gulf Breeze Optimist Club Annual Family Fishing Rodeo is May 17-18 at Shoreline Park South in Gulf Breeze. Rodeo hours are 5 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Prizes and awards will be given in two categories. Category 1 includes Amberjack, Grouper, Dolphin, King Mackeral, Ling Cobia, Red Snapper, Spanish Mackeral, Trigger, Tuna and Wahoo. Category 2 is Blue Fish, Bonita, Croaker, Flounder, Lady Fish, Ingo Snapper, Pompano, Sheepshead, Speckled Trout and White Trout.

Other awards will be given to Junior Angler Lady Angler, Master Angler and Pin Fish (under age six.)

Entry fee is $20. All proceeds will be used for programs to benefit local youth. City of Gulf Breeze to sponsor men's basketball league

The City of Gulf Breeze will sponsor a men's basketball league, which starts June 3 at the Rec Center.

Cost is $300 per team. Deadline for registering is May 27. Games will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will run through August 1.

The Gulf Breeze High baseball program will hold their annual Summer Camp June 9-12 from 8:30-12:30 p.m.

The camp, which is for kids ages 7- 14, is $100 or $30 for a single day.

Campers will also receive a free tshirt. Registrations can be picked up and dropped off at Gulf Breeze High (attn. Coach Kohr), Gulf Breeze Middle (attn. Coach Renfroe), Oriole Beach Elementary (attn. Coach Brown) or at the Rec Center. Checks can be made payable to Dolphin Baseball.

Stadium seats available

Durant to play in First Tee Classic

The 2008 First Tee Classic is scheduled for Monday, May 12, at Stonebrook Country Club in Pace. Joe Durant and several other touring stars will play in the event.

Durant will conduct a clinic at 11 a.m., with the tournament at noon. There also will be a raffle and silent auction. Entry fee is $150 a person, and several spots remain open. Call 456-7010.
