Bands on the beach continues with Mr. Big

Mr. Big
One of the most popular party bands of the southeast, Tim Jackson's Mr. Big, gets the Bands on the Beach crowd movin' and shakin' from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the Gulfside Pavilion. Strap on your dancing shoes and get ready to move to the rhythms of high-energy dance hits, beach music and groovy throwbacks from the 50s though the 70s.

The eight-member ensemble, organized by PJC music faculty member Tim Jackson, was united in 1998 and has been performing for crowds of all ages for over a decade. This talented group of musicians not only shares a passion for music and performing but many also hold degrees from the finest schools in the country, such as New York's Juilliard.

Mr. Big showcases their incomparable versatility and love for all genres of music with favorites such as the country hit "Boot Scootin' Boogie" or the rocking 50s tune, "Johnny B. Goode."

Band members include Tim Jackson on brass, Dee Hoham and Pearl Ash on double lead vocals; Paul Scurto on trumpet; Bob Maksymkow on tenor sax and clarinet; Paul Schortgen on baritone sax; Scott Nall on drums; and Billy Armstrong on guitar, vocals and keyboards.

Bands on the Beach continues Tuesday, May 20 with Southern Breeze.

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. Concerts are provided and organized by the Santa Rosa Island Authority.
