Pets to strut their stuff at Pet Fest '08

It's the social event Gulf Breeze pets and their owners look forward to 364 days a year.

Pet Fest 2008 will be held Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Shoreline Bark Park across from the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center (800 Shoreline Drive) in Gulf Breeze.

The event is sponsored by the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce and several local retail pet services outlets.

Peoples First Community Bank of Gulf Breeze will provide grilled hot dogs and beverages.

Seven area veterinarians will provide educational information on flea control, heartworm disease, microchipping, exotic pets and more.

This happening will include pet contests, door prizes, celebrities, music, demonstrations, a pet parade and more. Enter to win a Pet Fest contest such as: Pet Tricks at 11:30 a.m.; Anything Goes at 1 p.m.; Pet/Owner Look-ALike at 2 p.m.; and Pet Fashion Show at 3 p.m.

The Best of Show Parade for all pets will occur at 3:45 p.m. Pensacola Pelicans mascot Scoop, Cat Country's Cat, and the Pensacola Ice Pilots' Ice Man will also be at Pet Fest 2008. The Santa Rosa and Gulf Breeze K-9 Units and the Five Flags Dog Training Club will give demonstrations throughout the day.

Last year, more than 300 pets and 1,000 of their human friends enjoyed the fun. Admission is $5.
