DAVID A. PURKERSON 1944 - 2008

David Purkerson, 63, of Gulf Breeze, loving son of deceased parents John and Cova Purkerson, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1944 in Indianapolis, Ind. He graduated from Ben Davis High School and received a B.S. degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University and a M.S. degree in Management from SUNYBuffalo.

He worked in Buffalo, N.Y., at Marine Midland Bank and then located his family to Herndon, Va., where he worked in banking and at Sallie Mae (the Student Loan Marketing Association).

He was a resident of Gulf Breeze for the past 10 years, during which time he owned and operated the Sanford Rose- Pensacola Executive Search Firm. David belonged to the Pensacola Beach Boat Club and the Pensacola Beach Yacht Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Margie; three children, Jennifer Kirk of Leesburg, Va., Lori Broadhurst of Gulf Breeze, and Christopher Purkerson of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Wilma McNieve of Indianapolis, Ind., and Margie Johnson of Middleburg; two brothers, Harold Purkerson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Richard Purkerson of San Jacineo, Calif.; six grandchildren, David, Ashley, Devin, Dakota, Amber and Dyson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were at Rose Lawn Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4400 Bayou Boulevard, Pensacola.
