RANDY JOYNER 1956 - 2008
His surviving girls are his wife, to whom he was devoted for 33 years, Cyndey Joyner; his daughter, who is so much like him, Miranda Kristine Joyner; his youngest daughter, who thought her daddy could do anything, Caitlin Angela Joyner; and his shining light, his angel, his 4- year-old granddaughter, Ainsley Grace Joyner. We will miss him so much, but we will do everything with him in mind. We will make him proud. His granddaughter will never be allowed to forget the great man she had such a short time to know. That was his final wish - "don't let her forget her Papa." Randy was a busy man who wore many hats, but he seldom missed a t-ball game, a basketball game, a softball game or a cheerleading event. He so enjoyed coaching his daughters' teams. Randy was born Roy Randal Joyner to his devoted and loving parents, Roy and Rosetta Joyner. He is survived by his brother, Ronald (Melissa) Joyner, and his brother, Rick Joyner. He is also survived by his special devoted baby brother, Robert Joyner and his wife Carol Joyner and their sons, who were his godsons, Jack Joyner and Brian Randal Joyner. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins continue on, knowing their lives were made special by Randy. He is also survived by his father and motherin law, Andrew and Gloria Szlaga. He was the son they never had. He took care of them, and they were so proud to call him "son." He leaves behind numerous, loving and caring friends, co-workers, business associates and his special friend, his buddy, and "car-buying" partner, Mike Dykes. Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Grace Coleman; his paternal grandparents, Carvin and Mildred Joyner, and several loved aunts, uncles and cousins. Randy worked for Motorola for over 30 years. During that time, he excelled and attained every honor and accolade Motorola offered. One year, he was even named "Salesman of the World." It was always said that Randy Joyner could sell anything, and he did it with integrity and honesty. He also had his own company - Golden Rule Custom Homes. He has built many custom homes in the Gulf Breeze area. Each was built as if it were his own, and he gave his company that name because he so believed it was an honor to build someone's home and he should "do unto others." He was also part owner, with his father and brothers, in High Grade Fabrication and was a licensed real estate agent. Randy loved Florida State football, classic cars, Colorado, golf and taking his girls anyplace in the world they wanted to go. He loved being with his many friends and celebrating life. He wasn't a materialistic man, but he loved his yellow Corvette convertible - his trophy when he thought he was cancer-free. Randy had a down-home sense of humor that could tickle everyone. Through the years, his girls brought many dogs into his life, and he would say "even they were females." His latest buddies, MacKenzie and Susannah stood constant vigil. He loved to joke with people and say, "Hey, a good-looking guy like me should be surrounded by beautiful women!" Services for Randy were held Thursday, April 24, at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church with our friend, the Rev. Ruth Knights, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hope Medical Group and the wonderful "angels" at Covenant Hospice, especially Toni, Rose and Sandria. We would also like to give special thanks to Dr. William Howe for his sincere care and kindness. Donations can be made to Covenant Hospice in the name of Randy Joyner. |
