A dropped fly ball in the sixth inning was the difference as Catholic avenged a season opening loss to Gulf Breeze with a 2-1 win in Gulf Breeze April 15.
The Crusaders (20-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo homer off Dolphin starter Mark Waghalter, who struck out five in 3 2/3 innings after pitching 4 1/3 innings four nights ago at Navarre.
The Dolphins tied the game in the fifth when Dane Monnin's two out double scored Corey Downs, who singled. Gulf Breeze left two runners on in that inning and in the sixth, as well.
Thomas Dorsey was the tough luck loser for the Dolphins, allowing an unearned run in the sixth. He struck out two and allowed only one hit in 2 1/3 innings. Ben Lively struck out a batter in the seventh.
The Dolphin seniors - Kameron Brunty, Bo Dobson, Shane Dorlag, Kolton Hanke, T.J. Jordan, Monnin, Brandon Scott and Waghalter - were honored before the game, their final regular season game at home.
