Rotary club honored by district

Rotary Club of Gulf Breeze was recently awarded the Rotary Club of the Year for District 6940. This award was given to only four clubs out of the 49 clubs in District 6940, which spans from Lake City, Fla. to Perdido Key.

President Paul Stanley thanked District Governor PC Wu for the honor and expressed his appreciation to the club's membership for all the work and dedicated service the membership has provided to achieve this distinction.

Highlights of this year's service and activities include:

Increasing the Club's membership with 17 new members to date.

Three successful fund raising activities to build scholarship dollars for graduating students from Gulf Breeze High School.

Increasing their annual scholarship giving to $31,000.

Actively sponsored the Interact Club at GBHS.

Increased support of the Rotary International Foundation by awarding 10 Paul Harris Fellowship distinction including their first Major Donor ($10,000).

Gulf Breeze Rotarians participated and supported various District Functions including International Service to Peru, Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA), International Group Study Exchange from France.

President Paul stated, "There are so many other ways our club's Membership contributes to the community it is difficult to list them all. These individuals are true leaders and committed to making our community a better place. I am proud to have served this club in this capacity and I am honored to be a Rotarian, especially a Rotarian from Gulf Breeze."
