GBHS tennis sweeps district titles
Kasler, Pfeifler remain unbeaten

The Gulf Breeze captured 11 out of a possible 14 divisions to cruise to the District 1-2A title Thursday in Panama City.

The girls won with 20 points, followed by Catholic (11), Arnold (7), Bay (5), PHS (4) and Walton County (0). The boys finished with 19 points, followed by Catholic (12), Bay (10), Arnold (4), Walton County (1) and PHS (0).

Next up for both teams in regional play with a new format. Instead of one round before the state meet, there's now two.

The girls team, with only one loss this season, hosted Suwannee Tuesday afternoon (after the News' deadline), which followed the boys hosting Wakulla Tuesday morning.

The second round of regional play is Friday. The girls with a win would face the Tallahassee Richards-Catholic winner, while the boys with a win would take on the Live Oak Suwannee-Catholic winner. Those matches will be in Gulf Breeze if Catholic wins.

The boys hosted Live Oak Suwanee and the boys hosted Tallahassee Rickards Tuesday (after the News' deadline) in the first round of regionals. With a win, both teams could face Catholic in the second round of regionals Friday, with the winner advancing to the state meet next week in Casselberry and Sanford.
