It is a privilege to be held accountable
Over the past few weeks, Lisa and I have had some serious, searching inquiries from supportive readers about how or why we published a story or why we waited to publish other information.
It is never easy to compile a true community paper that tries to include everything we possibly can in the amount of space that we have and as completely and accurately as we can within our weekly print schedule. But it is a great privilege to do so, and an even higher honor to have our readers come to us and express their opinion, appreciation or concern.
We will not always include the information that each "side" wants in any given article, but we do strive to print only wellresearched, balanced articles. As a publication that strives to provide fair and balanced coverage, we frequently are asked to explain our "side" of a news story or issue. The truth is, we do not allow ourselves to have a side, and we try to be an unbiased news source.
We are human, and we do make mistakes of omission or commission. It is a great blessing when a reader calls to tell us - because we know they are reading the paper and they are counting on us and holding us accountable to do a good job. Let us hear from you - it truly is your community paper and we work hard to be worthy or your trust and support!
