Beach Community Church a newly resurrected building
Three and a half years ago, Hurricane Ivan treated the beach and surroundings areas to some of the greatest devastation some of us have ever known. For many of those who felt the brunt of this phenomenon of nature, the scars are still evident. One of the casualties was the fellowship hall of the Beach Community Church which was damaged so greatly that it had to be torn down. The Church lived a nomadic life for a period of time worshiping at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, then at the Hilton Inn on the beach, and finally at Hunt Hall of Our Lady of the Assumption on the beach, before moving back in to the completely refurbished church building. During that time, the church was able to purchase an adjoining house and remodel it for use as Sunday school rooms and church offices. An exciting and long-awaited weekend will soon be here:
Ground breaking ceremony for the new fellowship hall will be on Sunday, April 27, following our worship service. Hurricane Ivan does not have the last word!!
On Saturday evening, April 26, at 6:00 p.m., T. Bubba Bechtol, a member of the Beach Church, and resident of the beach, as well as a popular and renowned comedian, will present "Bubba and Friends" to help raise funds for the new fellowship hall. The benefit will be open to the public and tickets ($20) may be purchased at The Market, 657 Pensacola Beach Blvd., Pensacola Beach; Innerlight Surf Shop at 203 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze; or at the church office at 916 Panferio Drive on the beach. The public is invited to attend and celebrate with us this exciting occasion in the life of the Beach Church.
