Wave take second at Georgia tournament

The Gulf Breeze 10-under Wave finished second out of five teams at the Battle on the Chattahoochee, a Grand Slam Tournament, in Columbus, Ga.

Wave 9,

Columbus Young Guns 2

Jace Amberson scored three times, while Sam Joyce singled and scored once as the Wave won their opener against the Young Guns.

Wade Niles, Zane Gill, Julian Gordon and Adam Colston all scored once. Amberson and Colston combined on the four-hitter.

Wave 10, Legends 8

The Wave scored four in the first and added five in the fourth to beat the Legends.

Gill and Gordon both had two hits and two runs scored, while Joyce doubled and scored twice.

Colston also scored twice, while Amberson and Niles both scored once. Gill allowed only two hits in four innings to get the win, striking out six.

Wave 11, Legends 1

Gill went the distance on the mound and had a hit and a run scored for the Wave in their second win over the Legends.

Amberson had two hits and scored three times, while Niles and Matthew deMahy both scored twice. Joyce, Gill, Xavier Arant and Kendall Gallagher all scored once.

Stixx 9,Wave 4

The Stixx, from Albany, Ga., scored three runs in the first and fourth innings to beat the Wave in the championship game.

Joyce and Gill both doubled and scored in the loss, while Niles singled and scored a run. DeMahy scored the team's other run. Amberson and Gallagher had the team's only other hits.
