Dolphins shut out Jay 3-0

Mark Waghalter threw a onehit shutout with seven strikeouts as the Dolphins avenged an one-hit shutout loss to Jay with a 3-0 win over the Royals March 31 in Gulf Breeze.

Waghalter threw only 81 pitches in the complete game win, walking only two and forcing a game-ending double play with the bases loaded to preserve the shutout.

Gulf Breeze scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. Shane Dorlag was hit by a pitch with one out. T.J. Jordan followed with a double before a double by Kameron Brunty hit the left field line, scoring both of them. Brunty then scored on a triple by Kris Matsoukas.

Jordan went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once. Brandon Scott had the Dolphins' only other hit, a single in the fifth inning.

Jay's Miles Hammac, who threw a one-hit shutout of the Dolphins on Feb. 28, had the only hit of the game for the 11- 3 Royals, a single in the fourth. Dolphin JV 11, Navarre 0

Gulf Breeze blew open a close game with four in the fifth and six in the sixth April 1 in Gulf Breeze.

Josh Suelflow, who scored three times, reached on a fielder's choice and scored when Tyler Boylan reached on an error. Suelflow scored in the fifth off a double by Robin Hoffpauir, who went 3-for-3 and scored twice.

Tyler McGee, who went 2- for-4 and scored twice, singled to score Hoffpauir. Cruz Lee followed with a two-run single that scored McGee and Boylan, who also singled.

Hoffpauir singled in the sixth to bring home Stephen Robbins, who singled. McGee added an RBI single in the inning, while Lee scored two when he reached on an error.

Colby Brown and Thomas Dorsey followed with run scoring singles.

Robbins went 2-for-5 and scored once, while Jackson Yates threw three-hit ball over five innings, striking out seven.

Dolphin ninth grade 5, Navarre 0

Justin Ratte threw a three-hit shutout, striking out a career-high 14 as the Dolphins blanked Navarre April 1.

Taylor Webb hit a two run single in the first inning, scoring Trevor Challenor and Jase Brown. Trip Rowe singled and scored on a single by Brandon Sorenson. Tyler Wright and Thomas Rockhill also had base hits in the win.

Dolphin ninth grade 10-6, Milton 2-3

Gulf Breeze got strong pitching performances from Dallas Biederman and Sorenson to take a twinbill from the Panthers March 31.

In game one, Biederman struck out four in seven innings. Ratte had three this, with an RBI and two runs scored, while Challenor and Brown both had two hits. Brown drove in two runs, while Challenor scored two runs. Biederman had two RBIs and scored three times.

In the second game, Sorenson struck out four in five innings and went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Michael Mann and Trey Nichols both scored twice.

The Dolphins play at Navarre Friday, with the winner clinching the number two seed in the district tournament. Navarre won 8-6 at GBHS earlier this season.
