A strange death in Gulf Breeze was determined to be a suicide. On April 1, authorities responded to a dead body reported in a Gulf Breeze neighborhood.

The man living at the house told sheriffs deputies that he found his friend dead in his front yard and thought it was an April Fool's Day practical joke. A mail carrier found the dead body of Charles Scott Boylan in the yard of the home, located on the 1600 block of Balogh Drive, some two and a half hours later and called police.

Homeowner William Donald Hutson, 43, was questioned and arrested when police found a shotgun in his possession. Boylan suffered a similar blast to the chest. Hutson said he removed the shotgun from his yard and took a nap. He was arrested for tampering with evidence.
