GBPD undergoes accreditation inspections
FROM STAFF REPORTS Gulf Breeze News news@gulfbreezenews.com

A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation arrived on April 9 to examine all aspects of the Gulf Breeze Police Department's policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services. The Gulf Breeze Police Department voluntarily complies with approximately 259 standards in order to continue to receive accredited status.

The Assessment Team, composed of law enforcement practitioners from various parts of the state, will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other areas to observe compliance. The team consists of three assessors chosen by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Staff. Once the assessors complete their review of the Police Department, they report their findings to the Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to receive full accreditation status.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. The public may call 850-934-4017 on April 10 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CFA accreditation standards. A copy of the standards for review may be obtained by contacting the Gulf Breeze Police Department's Professional Services Unit at 850-934-5121. Comments may also be directed to the Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation by calling 1-800-558-0218, or by mail to 3504 Lake Lynda Drive, Suite 380, Orlando, Fla. 32817.
