Portofino Spa closes due to state requirement

The Portofino Medical Spa was forced to close due to a state requirement mandating that all medical spas must have a full-time, on-site medical director, according to a notice on the front door of the building.

Dr. Kevin Welch is honoring most of the gift certificates purchased at the spa. They may be redeemed at two locations: The Skin Care Center of Gulf Breeze and at the Medical Center Clinic in Pensacola.

Gary Paquin of The Paquin Group, who formerly owned and managed the spa, was unavailable for comment as of press time so all information was obtained from a notice on the door of the building.
