Hurricane Expo planned for this Saturday

Are you ready for Storm Season? The Hurricane Expo- April 12 will show you how.

Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE), is hosting a community Hurricane Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Pensacola Civic Center to help show residents and businesses how to be prepared for disasters.

Over 80 exhibitors will provide information about services and products that can help in the preparation for and mitigation against disasters.

On site applications for free wind inspections and applications for My Safe Florida Home grants will be available at the Expo.

In conjunction with the Hurricane Expo, Escambia County will be celebrating National County Government Week with displays and demonstrations of the services offered to county residents. This year's theme is Protecting Our Children. Exhibits include: fingerprinting; animal bite and rabies prevention; recycling; pollution prevention; severe weather safety; car seat checks; fire prevention and a fire engine for children to tour; and information on camps, classes and sports.

Patsy Myers, associate administrator and vice president of operations, Gulf Breeze Hospital, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation's leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Myers also serves as director of nursing for Gulf Breeze Hospital and corporate compliance officer for the entire Baptist Health Care organization.

Myers earned undergraduate nursing and graduate cardiovascular nursing and administration degrees from University of Alabama at Birmingham. She joined Baptist Health Care in 1980 as an administrative resident

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, only 7,500 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To earn Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows also are committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

Ritchie to speak to AFP April 14

Buzz Ritchie, President of Gulf Coast Community Bank, Past Chair of the Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Pensacola Opera, Board Chair with United Cerebral Palsy and member of numerous other community organizations, will speak to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) on Monday, April 14, at the Pensacola Civic Center. Ritchie will discuss "How to Create a Rainmaker Board."

The luncheon starts with networking at 11:45 a.m. The cost is $12 for AFP National members, $15 for returning guests and first-time guests may attend free.
