Records fall at Andrews Invitational
Thomas, Tryon sweep mile as boys finish third, girls fourth

The Gulf Breeze boys and girls track teams both set school records at the Andrews Institute Invitational track meet Friday in Gulf Breeze.

In one of the first races of the day, the quartet of Will Thomas, Sam Grooms, Kurt Mason and Tommy Gibble set a school record in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:18, good for second place. In one of the final races of the day, the quartet of Jen Pfeifler, Laurin Halstead, Katie Aldridge and Lauren Musick finished sixth in the 4x400 meter relay with a schoolrecord est time of 4:17.46.

Emily Tryon won both the mile (5:36.71) and the two mile (11:49), the lone wins on the girls side. Zach Permenter won the pole vault (12-6), while Sam Grooms won the 400 meter dash (51.4). Will Thomas won the mile (4:30.76) and was second in the 800 (2:03.52).

Dustin Clements was second in the high jump (6-2), while Sean Thompson took fourth in the pole vault (11-0). Gibble was fourth in the 800 (2:07.31), while Stewart Williams was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (43.52). The quartet of Grooms, Gibble, Grant Harris and Williams was sixth in the 4x400 meter relay (3:41.29).

For the girls, Aldridge, Pfeifler, Tryon and Musick were second in the 4x800 meter relay (10:02.87). Briana Santiago was fourth in the triple jump (34- 0.5), while Pfeifler was fourth in the 800 (2:26.77).

Tobie Bass was fifth in the discus (91-0) and sixth in the shot put (34-7.5). Meredeth Chavers was sixth in the pole vault (8-0), while Bri Pate was seventh (7-6). Celia Eddy was seventh in the high jump (4-8).

The boys finished third with 70 points, while the girls were fourth with 57.5 points. Washington won the boys title with 146 points, followed by Navarre with 115.5. Pine Forest won the girls title with 154.5 points, followed by Port St. Joe (96.5) and Navarre (79).
