Gulf Breeze, along with the rest of Santa Rosa County's District 5, will soon be doing by some actual hands-on planning for its recreational future. A committee has been formed that will begin meeting this month to look at the recreation needs within the district and figure out how to meet them.

Santa Rosa County Commission Chair John Broxson of Gulf Breeze told commissioners last week that all of the members of the appointed committee had been contacted and agreed to serve. Commissioners each provided names of people they believed could help with the District 5 Recreation Plan.

Beckie Falkenberry, Director of the county's Community Planning, Zoning and Development, told county commissioners last week, "We are ready to go. We will meet once a month, and keep the pace up to get things done. We will be working with a representative of the Gulf Breeze youth recreation program, as well as other community leaders to see where the Recreation Master Plan can be applied or what needs to be changed."

The 10- member committee includes: Mike Werner, Cindy Gross, Jay Shultz, Margaret Cunningham, David Radcliffe, Bob Grant, Bob Harriman, Jeff Helms, Ron Pulley, and a representative still to be named from Pensacola Junior College.
