OBES student honored

Brittany Cole, a fifth grader at Oriole Beach Elementary School (OBES), took first place in a county essay contest sponsored by retired educators. The theme of the essay had to be about spending time with a grandparent, and her essay title was "More than just a fishing trip". She not only won a certificate and first place honors, but a check for $75. She was asked to read her essay at last week's school board meeting.
