Incredible things happen every day
A little later, as the Sunrise Service was underway, the rays of the sun came streaming from the East. As it rose over the clouds, it, too, was an awesome sight. The awe inspired by these two celestial bodies was not quite equal to the awe inspired by the reason nearly 300 people who braved the cold breezes, gathered to witness to one of the central beliefs of the Christian Faith - the Resurrection. There are some who find that too incredulous to accept as true. Many things fall into that category of "incredulous." For example, you may not have seen the explosion of a star halfway across the universe - the most distant object that could be seen on earth by the naked eye. That star, we are told by scientists, exploded 7.5 billion light years ago, and the light only came into sight Saturday night. NASA reports that the burst occurred when the universe was about half its current age - long before Earth was even formed. Before the explosion occurred, the star was about 40 times bigger than our sun. Incredulous!!
I don't think I'd want to live in a world in which I could explain everything- it would be so dull, uninspiring, and lacking the ability to bring about a sense of awe - awe that provides a challenge to grow. |
