Christians take the Resurrection on faith
There are some things that are beyond explanation - we just have to accept. Take, for example, the love between two people who have experienced something they can't explain - they just accept it. How is it that of all the people we meet in our lives, we find that one person who seems to fill all the emptiness in our individual lives! Love is difficult, if not impossible, to define.
Then, for the Christian, there is the Resurrection. That idea goes beyond all the experiences we can imagine! For those of the Christian Faith, it is simply a matter of faith. Something happened nearly 2000 years ago that has changed the way in which many of us live. Our lives are more confident, more loving, more accepting than we might otherwise be. Resurrection speaks of new life, new beginnings that occur over and over again. So often we refer to it as something that happens when we die, but to live the Resurrection means that each day holds the seeds of new life, a new beginning. The story is told that Ernest Hemingway was once challenged to write a whole story using just six words. He wrote, "For sale. Baby shoes. Never used." He felt the readers could take these six words and fill in the gaps from their own experiences.
For the Christian, six words could be: "He lived. He died. He lives." Each of us can fill in the meaning of those words for our own lives. However we interpret them, they should reflect new beginnings as we meet the experiences of each new day.
